Rocked You

Like a Hurricane

So, I stayed home alone last night. And another night last week, but unlike last week, I couldn't chat with anyone over text on the account that they had fallen asleep.

Now, I used to know the previous owners of this house. I also know where they died: inside. In the little hallway outside the bathroom leading into the living room.

Creepy ass shit.

Anywho.

School is almost out! Woo hoo! Can't wait to start PCC and go to OCF this year and also attend a Reggae festival. Will there be stoners at all of them? Most likely. Will I care? Hardly.

I see the mountain

The mountain is all I see

So, my dad's friend from Venezuela is visiting, and I've been hearing nonstop story after story from her and our neighbor as they go back and forth with stories. Our neighbor, also my dad's girlfriend, has pretty much traveled the world, and so has Yolanda, the woman from Venezuela. Sooo many stories... not sure if that's good or bad....

She also thinks my artwork is pretty neat...

She also goes to the Dances, which is short for 'Dances of Universal Peace', like before mentioned neighbor and parental unit. Dad meets a lot of girls there....

Anywho, the Dances are pretty cool. More so for the older generation, but they love when teenagers join in. I'd be more up for going if more kids my age went, or if they did less 'God' oriented ones.... If you're into Peace and God (not just Christian God, but any/all Gods) you should check it out. Yeah.

Anyway you want it

That's the way you need it

Might as well get this out of the way for the next time I need to update it.

My Spring Break consisted of: Sleepover, lounging around, going to my dad's, getting massive annoying blisters on my hands from doing yardwork at said dad's, and then going home to hide in my room while family came over and swarmed in my living room.

Not bad, not good. Kinda wished I could have gone snowboarding, but alas, that's life... I miss the snow... :(

Anywho, something art related to post... I guess I'll post my concentration pieces I'm turning in tomorrow?

Theme: Shapeshifting
Shapeshifting into a bird.
Werewolf, shapeshifting into a wolf.

Welcome to

Hotel California

So, this site is weird... it doesn't acknowledge that I'm logged in unless I go the 'log in' button and take me directly to my account. (It usually has 'dashboard' and other account links up in the top right corner instead of 'log in') Whenever I try to post a comment on someone's blog, whatever I had typed disappears and it acts like nothing happened.

Weird. :/

So, stumbleupon thinks I am three things: Sadistic, obsessed with rap, and a spray painting fanatic. Though, I have discovered some pretty bad ass rap artists and awesome spray paint designs on various objects around the world this way. http://graffiti.org/la/la_1.html

I play my part

And you play your game

(Above photo is mine)

Might as well get the blog post thing out of the way, since I'll probably forget to do it Sunday and it's easier to do it closer to the beginning of the week.... Though, I'm suddenly feeling extremely uninspired art wise. Especially since my head is filled with "ACK, dating and girls and stupid girls and girls ex boyfriends and whaaaaaaat." at the moment.

Oldies music helps. Anywho. Art:

I discovered the 'trace line' effect on one of my programs, and am now overusing it. IT'S SO MUCH FUN!!! It can make any of sketchy drawings look more smooth and professional. I LOVE IT. Like, I can do sketches wonderfully, but I can never get a good smooth line in the end result. But now I caaaaan with Illustratorrrrr~

Hey Soul Sister

So... blogger.com seems to not want to post my comments. >:P

Taylor C's:

I find it interesting that I almost always disagree with other art students when it comes to art. Although I like the third piece and think it's nicely done, it seems too... commercially. Like it's a computer graphic. It has great color, black lines, and the fact that's in the middle front and center makes it stand out and create a sound overall feeling to it. I think you should add something to the background, though, like some spaceships or gases leaking from the planet back there.

I like the last one best, but I think it's because it reminds me of a spray painted piece I saw once that used a similar style. It's cool nonetheless. Because of the large space towards the middle right, and how there's less space on the other side, it almost looks like a path. It feels like you're gliding along an invisible path through the stars and planets. :)
As for the second piece, I LOVE how they turned out, but you do need a different background or way to present them. I think it would be neat if you had a blue print kind of thing as the background.

Overall very nice, all of the pieces work with your concentration. Keep rockin'. :)

Allie M's:

I really love how you did the cards piece. The value and quality of the cards are done nicely and the simplicity of it really works. Although I think have it black and white is cool, I think that it should have a little bit of color, though. Like have the hearts colored in, that way you can put more emphasis on the 'Queen of Hearts' idea.
Not really digging the other piece. (the mushroom one) I like how bold you were with the colors, but it seems like it's all the same shade and there's not enough contrast. Maybe darkening the shadows as you go further and further back? I think the main mushroom that's covering half of the piece is a nice part of the piece, but it needs to contrast more with the other mushrooms in the front- maybe make the mushrooms in the front lighter? (adding to contrast) As for the Caterpillar-you said in the comment that you wanted to make him more noticeable- what if you make the perspective from his eyes? Like he's the one sitting under the mushroom gazing out at the other mushrooms?

Love your concentration and think it's awesome. :) (My middle name on facebook is 'futterwacken'. just a little side note.)

Lucas S's:

I enjoy your style and concentration theme. It's a bit darker than the other ones in the class, and I think it's cooler than just going with something clean and 'nice'. Your style is gross and awesome. :D
Any who, your pieces. I like the first one and how you don't show the jaw, neck or shoulders. The little color you used is nicely woven into the piece and not overused. It's difficult to read the quote, not sure how you'd fix that. Also, I think you could do without all the extra space. Like, the first photo is a close-up of it, and I find it easier to look at rather than floating awkwardly.
The other piece: I like the mixed textures/styles of it. The line quality is AWESOME. (I've seen a lot of artwork recently that kind of failed with it... so see art that the lines aren't messed up and bugging me is unusual) The only part about the piece that annoys me are the lines at the top from the eyes. It's not really necessary for the point, and although it makes it more 'face like' you have other pieces that you have random body parts floating around, so it wouldn't be odd. Overall both pieces work nicely with your theme.

Those are my two cents. Peace.

Hey yo Captain Jack

Run along with Captain Jack

My concentration: Shapeshifters

The first one is an Ekek, who are creatures that are bird-like humans. They are winged-humans who search for victims at night. They hunger for flesh and blood. In some versions, they shift into a human form during the day.

They remind me a lot of aswangs... both like eating fetuses... ew.
The second one is another alp piece. I'm mostly going to take the other alp one out and replace it with another one, so that I don't have two alp pieces.... Alps: An alp is typically male, while the mara and mart appear to be more feminine versions of the same creature. Its victims are often females,[1][2][3] whom it attacks during the night, controlling their dreams and creating horrible nightmares (hence the german word Alptraum ("elf dream"), meaning a nightmare). An alp attack is called an Alpdruck, or often Alpdrücke, which means "elf pressure". Alpdruck is when an alp sits astride a sleeper's chest and becomes heavier until the crushing weight awakens the terrified and breathless dreamer. The alp is best known for its shape-shifting abilities, similar to the creatures from werewolf lore. It may change into a cat, pig, dog, snake or a small white butterfly.[6] It has also been said that it can fly like a bird and ride a horse. The alp always wears a hat, giving it an almost comical appearance.[1][6][4] The hat is known as a Tarnkappe[6] (the literal translation being "camouflage cap" or "cap of concealment") which is simply a hat (or less commonly a veil) that gives the alp magic powers and the ability to turn invisible while worn (see also cloak of invisibility). The hat is visible no matter what shape the alp takes. An alp who has lost this hat will offer a great reward for its safe return.[1] The alp also possesses an "evil eye" whose gaze will inflict illness and misfortune. Removing or damaging this eye also removes the alp's malicious intentions.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alp_%28folklore%29

I've Got

A lovely bunch of coconuts, doodly doo

Have you ever had those days that were, pretty good, until the end when one little microscopic thing goes wrong, and all of a sudden the good day turns to "OH SHIT IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD"? That's what's happening to me right now. And it's extremely inconvenient. And annoying. Yes, it's irrational for me to be so distressed over stupid, delicious, amazing, oh-my-god-scrumptious, chocolate covered espresso beans; but right now, it's the end of the world.
And when it's the end of the world, do you:

a. sleep
b. do art
c. study for finals
d. b and c
e. freak out, waste a lot of time and energy, then eventually fall asleep
(e is so far looking like the preferable option)

So, at this point, it's up in the air whether or not my life will ever be the same again. My life may be in ruins forever because of this one moment. This one moment in time will be an ugly infected scar that I'll remember for the rest of my life. I'll look back on it and see an ugly, infected, white, red, black, purple, green, moist, bloody, wound.

Or I'll completely forget about it tomorrow and go on with school and life like always, and it'll be an inconceivable blip in the long run.

I won't remember this day in fifty years.

I won't remember those stupid delicious amazing oh-my-god-amazing chocolate covered beans.

Damn, chocolate covered espresso beans sound REALLY good right now....Until I get my actual other concentration up, enjoy this picture I drew of an Ekek right before she devours a fetus from a mother's wom with her insanely long tongue.

Do it like a Dude

Stomp stomp I've arrived

So, I found this website recently that me thinks is pretty awesome. It's basically this site where dykes from all over the world (or so I assume, they're fairly diverse) take pictures depicting lesbian pride. Or just lesbians hanging out. But a lot of the photography is really nicely done, great quality, and surprisingly it's not all porn. Some of it kind of is, like maybe 5%, but most of it is PG and awesome. http://fuckyeahdykes.tumblr.com/

When I was first looking through it it got me thinking, though. I love gay pride and all, but... the fact that it's becoming a fad rather than an acceptance thing kinda bugs me. Meh. The idea of pansexuality has also been bugging me, but for different reasons.

This weekend I've been mostly channeling my rage and anger through: facebook, cursing, and almost breaking my viola. Yep. Fun times. I just love going to my dad's.

yep.

Word Up

Hello pretty ladies around the world

Hating the WOA project with a BURNING PASSION OF A THOUSAND SUNS. I really wish we were required to do less photos for this and we could either pick the categories, or choose categories from the list. (Like, I like the transforming category, photos taken at night, decaying, funny, and intense color. I hate taking pictures of groups of people since they never turn out and the simple shapes category is freaking me out. I can't tell if my pictures work for it or not. Same goes for the story one.) Really not feeling it, and having to do so much of a project I dislike... just not feeling it. At all, yo. Also wish we could use old photos.

And no, I didn't wait until the last minute to do this project. I've been taking photos over the past month or whatnot, but I'm piecing all of it together right now, and it's extremely annoying. Especially since I always have a mini freak out over just the concentration pieces, now I have a freak out over 102 pieces.

GADFSJIDFSJKLDFNJKLDVFGJKL;DFRGJ.

My concentration pieces are pretty good though. I don't think they're my best pieces of work I've ever done, but they're descent. Yay....

Lock eyes from across the room

Down my drink while the rhythm's boom

I have NO idea if an update of our blog is due... or if it's just a comment... so here's some silly pictures of me being stupid and adding little comment things on them. :D (They're kind of like bloopers in picture form)

We're Gunna

Take yo mamma out all night
Yeah we'll show her what it's all about
We'll get her jacked up on some cheap champagne and let the good times roll on out

Anywho, I can't think of what to update my blog with, so I'll talk a little about henna and tattoo designs. Well, as most of you know, I like drawing swirly swirls and cooly cool designs, and the majority of people that see them think they're tattoo or henna designs. In this case, they're henna. Henna is most commonly confused with plain ole' drawings. Henna is a paste used for body paint, it's not a specific style of drawing.
At Oregon Country Fair last year, I did henna designs all up and down my friend's arm and face, and she did some on me, too. The above picture is my friend Diana's work, as well as the 'Dyke' sharpied on my back picture. There's a funny story about that... kind of. More so of a 'GAAAAH PEOPLE ARE STUPID' kinda thing, though. Aaanywho.
I'm doing henna again this year at OCF, this time maybe charge for it. Like, $5 for your arm or something. Maybe. Probably. We'll see. My friends and I are going as DRAGONS. Maybe. Probably. I think dragons would be cool........ plus henna up and down our arms and faces would be epic and shit.

Yeah... so the pictures below are some designs I did on my friend, and the ones above are my friend did on me. (that sentence sounds SO AWKWARD. BUT IT WASN'TTTT. IT WAS JUST PAINTING, I SWEAR.) It's too bad I didn't get pictures of the other people I henna'd. :/

In my time

Of Dying

Does the media have this much influence over my taste in music? Do I let it have such influence? Do I just have the same taste in music as most movies/tv shows!?
I found a recent example of TV playing a role in my taste in music. I've been listening to the 'Be Good Tanyas' almost nonstop for the past few days, one song in particular being 'In my Time of Dying' (LOVE IT), and when I looked up info about it, I realized that the title of the song is also the title of a song I really like from the show 'Supernatural' and the song (not the one in Supernatural) was featured in 'the L Word' on one of its episodes. They really aren't that popular, from what I've found... and yet, I've found two TV connections right there.

Or does that mean that my choice in music is just really gay?

I'm watching too much tv, either way.

Here's a picture of a hat that I recently made:

Ain't it pretty?

Everybody Everybody Everybody Living Now,

Everybody Everybody Everybody Dies

Family Portraits? Ugh. My family does a complete 180 every two months. One month it's aaaall about peace love and harmony, next everyone's sick and flying to France or I find out my brother has been mormon for two years and getting married. So what would be a nice portrait to portray three brothers, sister, and five nephews? Maybe I'll take a picture of a slushy or scrambled eggs.... If we can use past photos, it'll make the project a lot easier.

Eat you up

Eat you up

Anywho, here's some photography I did in Alabama. The above image is an insect eating a bee, and before I had the chance to take a shot of it, it had been in my dad's face. We were cruising in a golf cart on my Grandad's horse-ranch-field-place, when that sucker flew in my dad's face. I laughed and took pictures, basically.

This was one of the best Alabama sunsets that my dad and Grandad had seen in a while...

Here's some sketches with photoshop...

It's the... Eye of the Tiger~!

It's the dead of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival~!

The advice I give for next years AP2-D students is to put some effort into what they're doing. Don't take advantage of the opportunity that you're given, and work longer on projects than you think you should. Go into detail, try something new- enjoy what you're doing. Rock it out, dudes and dudetts~!

I learned that although I'm good at art (mostly still life), I'm not good at piecing it all together into an official piece I can submit to somewhere or sell. I need to work on backgrounds this summer, and figure out how to combine my simple charcoal/graphite/ pen drawings into a better and greater professional piece. I can draw anything in front of me- but if I go by memory, it dies before it begins. Color is a huge factor.

The thing I confirmed this year, about myself, is that I HATE PAINTING.

DIE, PAINT.

DIE
DIE
DIE.

HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

:P
My favorite piece I've made this year... was probably the creepy piece I did of my favorite alp character, Zach. Alps are creatures that sneak into your house at night and give you nightmares. They're really cool little creatures. x3

I have to say that there were two events that I enjoyed most this year, and that was the trip into Portland at the beginning of the year, and Scholastic Art Awards. Because Scholastic sounds so fancy, it made me reeeally paranoid about submitting anything. I literally had no idea what kind of pieces to put in, what was considered good, etc. After going to the Portfolio Day and seeing what kind art work was there... I realized that you could submit a stick figure drawing and still get a gold key. The feedback I received from the college folks were a great help, and especially got my brain doing twists and turns in new and awesome ways.

The one thing I strongly disliked this year was the Jesse Reno workshop. But that was just a personal thing... the attempting at a style I'd never tried before with a medium that I absolutely hated and people I don't know, PLUS some weird ass music that made it feel like I was on a spaceship, caused several head explosions and GRA^&8L$%FH#$%KAFGH$fA;LKG%ness.

Be yourself, don't take anyone's shit, and never let them take you alive.

BTW, Mrs. McBride: I found the blue watercolor piece... I found it in a pile about a week after the AP Art show. :(
